Back On The Trolley
Recently, the Vegans of Justice attempted to air a commercial on the Al-Jazeera network. Yes, the same network that broadcasts graphic images of the violence in the Middle East that includes mutilated bodies of both American and Muslim soldiers. Oh yeah, they also routinely show tapes of captured civilians and soldiers pleading for the lives from Islamic militants.
The ad in question includes a quote from Iman B.A. Hafiz al-Masri, regarding Islamic law: "If animals have been subjected to cruelties in their breeding, transport, slaughter, or in their general welfare, meat from them is considered impure and unlawful to eat" or considered to be haram (forbidden to eat under religous law). The quote is read over graphic images of cruelty to Australian sheep that are shipped to the Middle East. Let me just take out a piece of this quote though, and see if it rings a bell to anyone out there, "have been subjected to cruelties in their breeding, transport, slaughter, or in their general welfare". Anybody? No? Well maybe the Abu Ghraib prison scandals will ring a bell to PETA. I think they got treated a little more unfairly than those sheep, but yeah, Al-Jazeera will air an American commercial against "Animal Cruelty". Now this has to be one of the brighest ideas of PETA yet. Al-Jazeera has a potential viewing audience of 35 million people, and PETA wants to air a message telling THEM how to abide by THEIR religion. Hmmm, finally America has found a way to endear themselves to the Arabic population. I'm sure that Wahid Al Jihad Kumar will see this ad produced by Americans on Al-Jazeera and he will change his beliefs about America. He will no longer hate them... no no no. In fact, he will embrace all Americans as his religious saviours. Wahid Al Jihad Kumar will just see the commercial and proclaim "What! Your right...this is how I should be worshipping Allah...Oh my, oh my god. The mistakes we have made, the shame we have brought unto our families names. The Americans had this right from the beginning, if only we would have listened to them. There actually are Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, but not in the form of missiles or bombs. No, it's the Muslim society. We failed to abide by our religious laws, and we are destroying the very moral fabric of our soul. Thank You PETA...thank you for correcting the errors of my faith. Now I can achieve salvation with the mighty Allah".
PETA will continue to urge Al-Jazeera to accept the ad in order to reach a potential of 35 million viewers in the Middle East.Wait a second...let me get this straight. PETA will continue to urge Al-Jazeera to air the ad.No wait...that can't be right, let me try this again. PETA, an American agency is trying to urge Al-Jazeera, arguably hosting the greatest anti-American sentiment in the media that passes on that sentiment to 35 million Arabs, to play their ad that tells them how they should worship. That should work out just fine! I mean, the US have decimated the Middle East and many civilians in the Middle East have been displaced from their homes or even killed, and now PETA is trying to tell them they can't eat meat, for it is against their religion. Oh yeah Let me just take out a piece of the al-Masri quote though, and see if it rings a bell to anyone out there, "have been subjected to cruelties in their breeding, transport, slaughter, or in their general welfare". Anybody? No? Well maybe the Abu Ghraib prison scandals will ring a bell to PETA.
